P90X Review
I am a twenty eight year old male, and have been using the P90X system for 7 months. The only thing I can say is that if you are devoted and adhere to the program, exercise and eat properly, IT WORKS! There is only one catch. You have to EXERCISE and EAT PROPERLY. There's no point in doing one without the other. The P90X workouts were designed for six to seven days per week, depending on the person. To be completely honest, I only work out four or five days a week, but I do diet on all seven days. I am five feet eleven inches tall, and weighed 199 pounds. Before starting the P90X program, I wasn't fat but I was overweight for my height, and I looked a little chubby in some areas with no muscle tone or definition. Now I weight 174 pounds and have tons of muscle tone! If you get the P90X program, be ready for some intense workouts.
The great thing about the P90X system is that you don't need any fancy equipment or a lot of room to move around in. All you really need to start is a resistance band and some dumbbells. Their slogan is "Decide, Commit, Succeed". If you can do those three things, you will be very impressed! They also mention a recovery drink. Obviously they want you to buy their brand, but if you want you can buy Endurox from GNC. It really does help. Update:
A lot of people have been emailing me questions, so I just wanted to update my review for those of you with questions. I have now had the system for almost two years. I will admit that for some time I lost focus, as I had some family problems. Ah, such is life. Regardless, I'm back into it and doing much better. When you first start using the P90X system, you probably won't be able to keep up with the people in the videos. They are in amazing shape and have obviously been using P90X for a very long time. Please don't get discouraged. You probably won't believe it, but you will soon be doing pull-ups and push-ups beyond your wildest expectations. I owned a set of 10lb dumbells, and now I own a rack with up to 50 pounds! As you are watching the videos, you will notice that the people in the videos do a lot of reps. You don't have to keep up with them, just do as many as you are able to, and eventually you will be able to keep up with the videos. You really need to try and push yourself to the limit and then one step further. I recently went to training course at work and learned where the "mind over matter" catchphrase came from. When you are working out and you think you need to stop, unless it's your muscles dropping equipment, you don't actually need to stop. It's just your mind begging you to stop. You are able to push yourself beyond that point by thinking about your breahting instead of the actual exercise that you are doing. Try it, it really works!
Another thing that people keep emailing me about is dieting. Dieting doesn't mean eat less, it means eat smart. If you follow the P90X nutrition plan, and you have completed the P90X system. Doing one without the other will not have as big of an effect. You can work out and eat all the junk food you like, but your body is going to get tired very fast while working out as your body is not getting the right kinds of "fuel". Then again, if you diet all you want but only work out once a week, you will not see any results. However, do them together, and BOOM you will see results in less then a month!!! Try thinking of it like this. For three months you will feed your body, not your mind. Eat what is healthy for your body and not what your mind tells you tastes good. After three months or so you can cheat a little bit and you will be fine. But after three months you probably will not want to, because after eating properly and learning what exactly is good for you and what is bad you probably won't want to cheat often.
The P90X workouts all kind of blend in together so make sure you don't skip any, and follow the guide. The chest and back assists the arms and shoulders. They all help burn fat..and the ab ripper..well that just kicks your butt but its honestly the best. Your dropping fat, while pulling and tightening your stomach muscles. You will see these results, its really amazing. Thats actually why people have such big stomachs, its a result of fat and weak stomach muscles. When the muscles are worked, you burn the fat as you work them, so you can't help but get the results that you want.
